Downtown Santiago, Chile
Santiago, Chile Itinerary Highlights:

  • Day 1 – Arrivals Saturday, March 18. Transfer from the Santiago airport to our hotel. We’ll gather for a Welcome Dinner near our hotel in the evening.
  • Day 2 – City & Market Tour of Santiago – This combination walking and driving tour will give us an overview of the city with a chance to sample local dishes and typical Chilean beverages. Our guide will lead us through the lively working market that supplies much of the city with its fresh goods. We’ll learn the history and culture of Chile by visiting the Presidential Palace and enjoying the views over Santiago. This mid-day tour includes four or five tastings, enough for a hearty lunch. Free evening.
  • Day 3 – We’ll head out south of the city for a half day wine tour to the Maipo wine region where we’ll visit Haras de Pirque, a state-of-the-art winery at the foot of the Andes. We’ll enjoy lunch and a tour of this unique winery, along with a tasting of their premium wines. Free time in the afternoon then we’ll have a casual group dinner.
  • Day 4 – Afternoon Food & Culture Walk – Experience Santiago’s neighborhoods during an afternoon of culture, food and wine.  We’ll visit a variety of unique neighborhoods, plus one of Santiago’s oldest parks, Parque Forestal, and the historic GAM cultural center. Our stops will include a local eatery for picoteo, a sampling of bites and finger food to go with a Chilean craft beer, a stop to try Chile’s favorite grape, Carmenere, with a shared food selection, plus a Chilean favorite – ice cream! We’ll have enough bites to make this your late lunch or early dinner.
  • Day 5 – Cooking Class and Winery visit. Today we’ll head to the Casablanca wine region. First, we’ll visit a working goat cheese producer, then off to the Matetic winery for a tour and tasting. Our day will include a walk through their organic garden before heading to the kitchen to cook traditional Chilean dishes for our lunch.
  • Day 6 – Craft Market & Clandestine Chilean Lunch. Shopping day! Chile is known for their beautiful crafts. In the morning, we’ll head across town to one of the best artisan markets. Then we’ll visit one of Santiago's oldest residential neighborhoods for a very local Chilean restaurant experience, wine included of course. Free evening.
  • Day 7 – Free Day. You’ll have the full day for last minute shopping, exploring museums, or visiting wine bars and restaurants. We’ll give you a list of ideas. That evening we’ll gather for a Farewell Dinner.
