Greece Itinerary
April 27 - Arrivals & Welcome Dinner Private, individual transfers from the Athens airport to the stunning boutique Hotel Herodion with views of the Acropolis. We’ll gather for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (D)
April 28 - Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Acropolis and the new Acropolis Museum with a story-telling local guide. Free evening or optional dinner sunset catamaran cruise (additional cost). (B)
April 29 - Athens Food Tour and Dinner in Crete Wander the streets of Athens as we pop into family-run shops and restaurants for tastes and sips of authentic foods in two neighborhoods, while learning about Greek history and culture. That afternoon we’ll catch our domestic flight to Chania in west Crete and transfer to the Ambassadors Residence Boutique Hotel, the former private residence of the German ambassador to Greece, set in a restored Venetian building with beautiful sea views. We’ll gather for a group dinner near our hotel. (B, L, D)
April 30 - Sites & Bites Old Town Tour & Shopping Our morning begins exploring the vibrant Old Town of Chania, with a walking tasting tour to learn about history, culture, and Creten cuisine. We’ll explore unique Venetian and Ottoman monuments and visit the Jewish district. Along the way, we’ll sample the famous “bougatsa” cheese pie, and “kalitsounia” sweet pastries. We’ll taste the extra virgin olive oil of Crete, a variety of artisan cheese with local“raki”, Cretan olives, thyme honey, and homemade Cretan wine. Our tour ends at one of the open-air markets of Old Town where you can continue shopping or head back to our hotel. Free evening in beautiful Chania. (B, L)
May 1 - Brunch Among the Olive Trees We’ll begin with a tour of a Cretan Olive Oil Mill on the Biolea Estate, one of the only olive mills in the Mediterranean that produces olive oil with stone mills and a press. Following the tour, we’ll have brunch on the patio of the Mill, seasonal dishes paired with local wines and artisanal cocktails. Free evening to explore all Chania has to offer. (B, L)
May 2 - Explore Rethymno and Travel to Hersonissos Check out of our Chania hotel and travel together to our hotel the Village Heights Resort in Hersonissos on the east side of Crete. The resort is designed to resemble a traditional Cretan village, complete with charming stone buildings, cobblestone paths, and lush gardens. Along the way we will stop in the beautiful beach town of Rethymno for free time to shop or eat lunch. Free evening to explore the new town of Hersonissos. (B)
May 3 - Knossos Palace and Farm Tour Cooking Class Morning tour of Knossos Palace and Archeological Museum followed by a tour of an organic farm for a cooking class and a farm to table lunch. We’ll learn about the farm's method of biodynamic agriculture, visit the farm animals, and harvest organic fruits and vegetables from the garden before using them in our hands-on cooking class featuring recipes from the Bronze Age. May 4 - Wine Tasting Picnic, Cheesemaking, and Farewell Dinner Lunch will be a picnic in a vineyard with tastings of local wines. Back at our hotel, we’ll have a cheesemaking demonstration with wine pairings followed by our Farewell Dinner. (B, L, D)
May 5 - Head Home Or On To Your Next Adventures Check out of our hotel and as a group head to Heraklion Airport for our domestic flight back to Athens. (B)
