September 9: Cape Town Arrival Day and Welcome Dinner Private transfers from the airport to our 4* accommodations along the waterfront,The Commodore Hotel. After an early evening orientation, we’ll have a group Welcome Dinner at a beautiful South African restaurant, diving straight into Cape Town's dynamic food culture (D)
September 10: Table Mountain, Neighborhood Walking Tour & Cooking Class Morning private tour of breathtaking Table Mountain, offering expansive views over Cape Town and the ocean from its distinctive flat peak. We’ll join a local culinary expert on a visit to a market in the lively Bo-Kaap neighborhood, where you'll select ingredients for our hands-on cooking class, exploring the flavors and techniques of South African cuisine (the class will involve signature dishes such as the succulent Bobotie and the spicy Chakalaka). Free afternoon, perhaps strolling along the scenic Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Dinner at one of the city’s great restaurants. (B, L, D)
September 11: Cape Town Tour, Penguins, and Cape of Good Hope Full-day private tour to the Cape of Good Hope, a spectacular nature reserve known for its dramatic sea cliffs and rich biodiversity. Visit the famous Boulders Beach for an enchanting experience of watching African penguins in their natural habitat. Guided walk to the historic Cape Point Lighthouse, where you can witness the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Savor a mouthwatering lunch at a celebrated seafood restaurant along the picturesque False Bay coastline. Return to Cape Town in the evening for an optional group dinner in Camps Bay, a trendy seaside suburb known for its stunning beach views. (B, L)
September 12: Head to the Coast and Hermanus Check out of our hotel in the morning for the 1.5-hour drive to the small coastal town of Hermanus, pausing at a few charming farm stalls along the way to savor the region's freshest produce and artisanal treats. We’ll also stop for a light hike along the renowned Cliff Path Walk, with spectacular ocean views, and potential whale watching opportunities. Lunch will be at a local seafood restaurant. In the afternoon we’ll arrive at the beautifulWindsor Hotel, with free time to relax at the hotel or wander the quaint town before we gather as a group for dinner. (B, L, D)
September 13: Marine Safari and Saturday Market Food Tour Morning ‘Marine Big 5 safari’, an amazing opportunity to see huge whales coming up for air, great white sharks swimming in their home waters, dolphins jumping around in the waves, seals hanging out by the coast, and penguins walking all around the shore. Guided food tour at the Hermanus Saturday Country Market, surrounded by the colorful stalls and upbeat music. (B, L)
September 14: Stellenbosch Picnic Lunch and Wine Tasting Check out and start our 1.5-hour drive to Stellenbosch, a picturesque town famed for its historic vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture, nestled in one of South Africa's premier wine regions. Along the way, we’ll have a picnic lunch complete with tastings of handcrafted beer and gin, showcasing the town's rich culinary diversity and artisan spirit. Next is a winery where we’ll taste a selection of the region's finest wines overlooking scenic vineyard views. We’ll check into our rooms at the beautiful De Zalze Lodge before enjoying dinner together at a restaurant in town. (B,L, D)
September 15: Franschhoek, Wine Blending Workshop, Sustainable Garden Lunch Sleep in a bit or join an optional early-morning hot-air balloon ride over the sprawling vineyards of Stellenbosch (additional cost) complete with a toast of Méthode Cap Classique. Then we’ll all head to Franschhoek, a charming town famous for its exquisite wine estates and stunning natural scenery. We’ll have a private wine-making class, where you'll create your own blend and take home a bottle of your personalized wine. Visit a local organic garden known for being a pioneer in sustainable farming, and enjoy a delicious gourmet picnic lunch. Head back to our lodge in Stellenbosch for a free evening. (B, L)
September 16: Kruger National Park and the African Bush After check out we’ll take a 30-minute drive to Cape Town’s airport for our flight to Kruger National Park, acclaimed for its expansive landscapes, abundant wildlife and unspoiled natural beauty. Upon arrival, you’ll get situated at the beautiful and modern 4* Mdluli Safari Lodge set within the African bush. We’ll dive right into our first safari game drive in Kruger, in search of the celebrated Big Five: elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos and buffaloes, along with a diverse array of other animals in their natural wilderness. Group dinner at our lodge, a relaxing end to a day full of natural wonders. (B, D)
September 17: Full Day of Safari Game Drives Today we’ll have a full day of safari game drives in the Kruger National Park, where in addition to the Big Five, you might encounter zebras, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and a variety of bird species, each offering a unique glimpse into the rich tapestry of African wildlife. Dinner together in our beautiful lodge setting. (B, L, D)
September 18: Morning Game Drive, Free Afternoon, Farewell Dinner Enjoy another enchanting day at the game reserve, immersing yourself in the tranquil yet vibrant atmosphere of the African wilderness with a morning safari game drive. Your afternoon is at leisure with multiple options, such as strolling through the bush with an expert guide to get to know the smaller, often-missed wonders of the wild, joining a bird watching tour to spot some of Kruger's unique feathered residents or visiting a project nearby to learn about the efforts to protect this incredible ecosystem. Farewell dinner at the lodge in the evening. (B,L,D)
September 19: Departures for Home or On To Your Next Adventure In the morning, we’ll have a one hour drive to the Hoedspruit Airport, followed by a one hour flight to Johannesburg for your departure flight. (B)
